At this heritage site you will learn about important aspects of Quebec’s history. Le Village Québécois d’Antan will then offer you a traditional meal and a site visit. Finally, three businesses from the environmental sector will introduce you to the flood plains along Lac St-Pierre and share with you their cohabitation, conservation and sustainable development practices. These presentations will take place during a cocktail reception.

« Travel to the Heart of Montreal and its Oldest Neighbourhoods »
Enter the central and south-eastern neighbourhoods of the Island of Montreal and discover what has become of the old working neighbourhood of Rosemont and the old industrial neighbourhood of Hochelaga-Maisonneuve. This circuit includes a stop at a neighbourhood cinema, the visit of a business involved with Bixi, the self-serve bike service that facilitates Montrealers transport throughout the city, as well as an urban business park (Angus Technocity). Come and visit jewels of Montreal’s cultural heritage reconverted into social economy enterprises – a church reconverted into a popular restaurant and the Chateau Dufresne, a “Belle Epoque” building that preserves the heritage of the East of the city. Return towards the Centre-South, formerly known as the « Faubourg à mélasse” (‘molasses quarters) to visit the Itinéraire newspaper, and artist’s workshops (Le Chat des artistes).

A visit to agro-ecology for young people and a visit to a well-known tourism business will introduce you to a panel of entrepreneurs who have managed to unite social needs and economic demand. This will be followed by a panel of elected officials who play a central role in the development of the social economy in their municipalities.

The Petite-Nation youth hostel solidarity cooperative will then welcome you for a night in the small village of Saint-André-Avellin, where you can admire the fall colours. You will return to Montreal by way of the Laurentians, where other businesses await your visit. A field trip with diversity, and as a bonus, some time to discover a little of the city of Ottawa and the Canadian Parliament.

You will initially be greeted by a company specialized in the cutting of industrial cloth and the commercialization of bags and accessories made of 100% recycled material. You will then discover the secrets to the success of a company specialized in recycling plastic matters from commercial and industrial residues. Finally, during this plentiful harvesting season, you will have the opportunity to discover the agricultural area of Laval. You will be met by a dynamic company that runs an organic farm while offering a community catering service and a woodwork space for young people from 16 to 25.
